A Heart Felt Thank You to Dave and Roma MCoy
With their encouragement and support, the Informed Choices in Health Mammoth Lectures, including the Focus on Performance series, became a reality. Dave founded the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, retiring in 2008. Well into their 90’s, Dave and Roma are still active and independent.
In the mid 1990’s, ICIH founder, Thomas Deinema asked the questions:
How do individuals choose a doctor, a dentist, an acupuncturist, a chiropractor, or other health care professional?
How can the general public learn about complimentary alternative integrative treatment options?
The answer to how the general public could gain knowledge of a particular professional; their focus and their practice was to create a lecture setting where the public could meet, ask questions, get answers, and be provided with additional information to enhance the quality of their lives; then to make that information available in an audio format. The Informed Choices In Health Lecture Series has presented over 40 lectures primarily in Reno, NV; Mammoth Lakes, and Graeagle, CA to meet that need. To make the lecture series “community events,” local physicians and health care providers were invited to participate.
To introduce the public to complimentary, alternative, biological, integrative medicine, integrative physicians and other health professionals who treat the “whole person;” not just a disease or ailment; and to provide choices for individuals with health issues. The focus being health and healing, NOT drugs and surgery. To inspire and motivate individuals to take responsibility for their health and the health of their loved ones, by introducing them to new information, getting them to dialogue with their healthcare providers, and to do their own research.
